I always feel uncomfortable visiting luxury hotels where they have doormen bowing and opening the door. I also hate the "private beach" notion often designed to keep away locals or riff raff like myself.

I'd just be interested what the other members of this elite crew think of this place? I've now seen it advertised 4 or 5 times and always in the most glowing terms with couched with the most explicit wonder and compliments on the "style", "innovation", "daring" and of course "beauty". None of which do I find to be the case. Personally I think the place is a hideous mishmash of cheap concrete build with the occasional tropical note, (bamboo windows) but only where they are the cheapest possibility, combined with horrible concrete and stones everywhere as if they were some sort of luxury. Not a single nod to any Balinese architecture as is stipulated in gov regulations for new builds either. In a word "ghastly", or is this what your modern Australian thinks is "it"? This is the kind of place Trump would like to send the Mexicans trying to get into the USA as it's nothing but concrete walls. I have to agree with your comments mate. It looks absolutely bloody awful. Not my idea of "innovation" apart perhaps from the "daring" use of concrete. I'm amazed that the design was approved. I like Bali to look like Bali and this doesn't noy with damn great concrete walls like that.
